The Final Post…

Hello Readers,

Yes, this title does have to do very much with the topic. This is my “final Yr 6 blog post” otherwise known as “the final post”.  I am writing this post on the last day of year 6, the last day of junior school, wow. And, so I guess it is reflecting time. So, here goes nothing…

Year 6 has been a great experience. And, I have decided that the quote below is a great way to catagorise my reflecting:

2ea0a74a6c2896762190860bab38029c

THE LAUGHTER

Where do I begin. So many times I have laughed during year 6, here are some fond times I remember laughing:

– In leadership time, I always remember a girl in my group who never failed to make everyone laugh with her hairbrained ideas, once to represent her mind being blown, she looked up a photo of a giant explosion.

– One friend of mine throughout year 6, would crack up with me always because of some random reason, we would laugh until our lungs hurt

– Recently, at the the year 6 dinner, year 6 were dancing their hearts out with some insane moves (including me), at one point we were dancing to the Macarena

THE MEMORIES

I have millions and millions of year 6 memories stored in my brain, but here are some main ones:

– The junior school musical: the little mermaid I took part in, I have glowing memories of rehearsing and performing

– My leadership role was “house captain”, I had so many amazing experiences at carnivals and fundraisers being a leader

– When we did our skate of arts I had an enjoyable experience painting my board and thinking about my politically based theme

– All year 6 camps were amazing, especially going Canberra, I learned so many things about parliament and enjoyed going to many educational centres.

THE PAIN

This was kind of the bump in the road for the quote, I didn’t really have any “pain” in year 6 except for one thing: Hot days in summer when I didn’t have something to cool me down.

THE HAPPINESS

I was always 99.9% happy in year 6, but here are some highlights that made me extra happy:

– My amazing teacher Mrs T. could not have been a better teacher, every moment in class was enjoyable because of Mrs T.

– All the preparation for high school has been very fun in year 6, and has made me really happy and prepared for year 7

– Friendships, living by YOLO with friends at school has been awesome in year 6

So, I guess this is nearing the end of the final post ): (sad face). Year 6 has been awesome, from beginning to end. Here is a little poem full of words to describe year 6:

Abundant, achievement & accomplishment

Welcoming & wonderful

Educational, exciting & enjoyable

Smily & of course shining

Outstanding, optimistic & original

Memorable & marvelous

Encouraging & engaging

I will miss you readers, thank you so much for reading my blog and I hope you liked my final post.

Raise Your Voice

Hi Readers,

In year 6 we have been assigned to create a post about the special event “Raise Your Voice”.  So everyone in the class writes a blog post about an issue that is important to us. So for example: recycling. I have chosen fossil fuels as my topic because I know quite a bit about what is happening with them for I have studied this topic. I actually as you may know have written an essay about fossil fuels, “Fossil fuels and the future” for the Roseville Rotary club essay competition. So to tell you about fossil fuels I will put up my essay and a powtoon explaining Fossil Fuels:

The Essay

Fossil Fuels and the future

By Charlotte F

Have you ever wondered where your energy sources come from? How does the world keep up with the demand to produce electricity for example? Many countries rely on different energy sources. Many do not have the facilities or the financial ability to even produce sustainable energy.

In Australia our daily lives depend on Fossil Fuels, if the world continues burning these fuels at the rate they are now by the time people of my age are 50, there will be none left to power air conditioning, television, computers and light.

Fossil fuels are Australia’s main source of energy. These fuels are developed into oil, coal and gas, which after they have been burnt. Unfortunately fossil fuels are finite, in other words limited & restricted. This is a problem for future generations.

Fossil fuels are not a sustainable energy source; they are prehistoric remains of living plants and animals that lived millions of years ago, some from organisms alive even before the age of the dinosaurs.   These have developed over millions of years and cannot continue to develop during a human time scale. Burning rates now are very high; approximately 21.3 billion tones of fossil fuels are burned each year.   If fossil fuels are our main source of energy and Australia continues to burn fossil fuels at this rate then these fuels will run out. We will lose our main source of energy. If this crisis does occur then what will happen to air conditioning, television, light, computers, heated pools, and hot showers? If all the countries of the world consumed fuels like Australians do, fossil fuels would have perished years ago.

There may be, however, a solution. We need to develop more renewable energy sources. Other countries are leading the way. For example, in December 2014, Scotland made enough wind power to generate 98% of Scotland’s household energy needs. Scotland’s example shows us there are solutions to this complex problem.   I know there are many people who say we need to do something to mend this problem, while not doing anything themselves. I for one would like to see Australia make a change for the better.   Will you join me?

Japan Tsunami

Hi Everyone!

This week I want to show you my news report. I know- what? Well this term in year 6 Unit of Inquiry we have been studying the topic “sharing the planet” .

This involved studying the earth and making models of the earth, also learning about how changing the earths surface disrupts living things. Afterwards we learned that in ICT we would be: studying a peticular earthquake, tsunami or earthquake eruption  that has occoured in any country, making a script for a news report using the information you have gathered and then recording yourself using Imovie with a greenscreen behind to create a news report! It was a very interesting experience. Here is my news report:

The masterpiece of appreciation

Hello world!

 FullSizeRender copy 6

“Every artist was first an amateure”

But this expertise creator isn’t much of an amateure are they? And before you ask, no I did not create this masterpiece in the preview picture. This piece was created by Josh H in year 6 who is from a neighboring school. His artwork was a part of the travelling art show that came by my school and I chose it as my favourite one. Why you ask? Well here are some reasons:

1) What materials have been used to make the artwork?

I am not 100% sure if there were some “Behind the scenes” materials behind this artwork but I am pretty sure these are most of the materials: the “canvas” was an A4 piece of paper, there were many water colours: mauve purple, grey, different shades of blue, natural greens and a little bit of orange, they are all very mild, and the outlines of the leaves were created by oil pastels.

2) What techniques have been used to create the artwork?

There were many techniques that showed within this artwork but the most outstanding ones were; beautiful watercolor painting, strokes, and clouds, realistic leaf sketching and outlining, and most importantly the right  setting of the right mix of colours.

3) What do you like about it?

I like how it resembles and reminds me of so many different things like majestic gumtrees, leaves swaying gently in the breeze, a natural bonfire scent, and the feel of climbing up the gumtree that the branch of leaves belong to.

Skate of Art…

Hello World!
recently in year 6 we have been learning about social problems and big events, so for art we made “social skateboards”. I know- WHAT? Basically everyone in year six got a skateboard canvas which was a once in a life time opportunity and we learned about street art, different fonts and social comments. On our skate boards we got to design a picture, pattern, writing or other things on our skateboards using paint, sharpies pencils, pastels, glitter and more and more to create our masterpieces, or “Skate of arts”.

My Skateboard

Memories skateboard

My social comment is that as you can kind of see in my skateboard: So many people have made memories, memorable things; say history, and all these famous quotes from people that have made history and the single words on my skateboard like change, history & stand- so many people and events have made history so, so can YOU. I chose these quotes especially because they mean change, difference or represent something. Like the quote “I have a dream” by Martin Luther King, or Malala’s story, and even the “there was never a good war or a bad peace” which represents terrible wars. Here are a two quotes that I can explain on my skateboard.

1) My first quote is “I have a dream” which you probably know. This quote is by Martin Luther King and the full quote is “I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.” This quote is all about the fact of BLACK and WHITE racism, which means people judge by the colour of ones skin instead of their personality. This issue has by far gone down from what it used to be, but some are still judged by that. This quote resembles all the speeches, stands and history of Black and White racism.

2) My second quote is “One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world. “. This quote was stated by Malala Yousafazi  in her famous  speech at the Youth Takeover of the United Nations. This quote is all about education.  Malala has a big history, she believed in education and fought for the right of girls education. The Taliban shot her in the head aiming to silence her because she was disrupting their plans. She was okay afterwards and still fought for what she believed in, even stronger. Her story became world wide and she helped bring the rights of girls education. This quote resembles Malala’s story, and more importantly the right of education.

I hope you readers have learnt something from my social comment skateboard (skate of art), because I definitely have.

Behind the Scenes (Chapter 6)

Hello Readers,

This is my final chapter: 6 of my choose your own adventure book. If you have not read my book before: my book “BEHIND THE SCENES” is about a 12 year old girl named Mabel who has lived at the Lepary hills underground headquarters ever since she can remember. And yes- you guessed it- she is an agent at the L.H.S.O (Lepary hills spy organisation). She is strong, smart and skilful in every area of the spy training system there is.

In my last chapter: Uncovering the truth, Mabel got an unexpected note from Haley saying she knew everything and all about Daniel, her adoptive father and that Rob had been microchipped to find Mabel and stop her, even though he was just her handler; who knows what he could do?

You readers voted mostly on Mabel saving Haley herself straight away, even though Rob could be dangerous and who knows what this smuggler could do. Here is my final chapter of Behind the Scenes:

Chapter 6:

A new beginning

Mabel finally decided to pluck up the courage to save Haley herself. She knew although,  this was the most dangerous and risky choice- but Haley needed her. She also realised that she had no defence or tech gadgets apart from a memory eraser and a laser pen. She looked up photos of where Haley was held the non- spy way, through a real-estate website and decided to draw a blueprint of the house. She found out that if she found Rob first and managed to de-chip him she could trick Daniel into getting out of the house so she could save Haley. Mabel thought that the way to do this was to send her tracker to the L.H.S.O so Rob would go there and if she could send to the L.H.S.O a message explaining Rob then they could easily “handle” him. Soon that was managed using the secret L.H.S.O SOS site and sending the message with a school computer. This is an unstable copy of the blueprint:

Screen Shot 2015-09-13 at 5.45.14 pm

Mabel had a plan, a pen and a perfume (fake of course- memory erasing spray) could she pull this off?

She ran straight to the house and found that Daniel was, thank goodness not there. She went down to the basement and then began. The first thing Mabel did was lock all the doors into the house, then used her laser pen to laser a hole in the roof of bedroom one, she wanted to be able to get Daniel to climb into the hole in the roof of bedroom 1, go through the Bedroom 1, the sitting room, bedroom 2, the stairs, bedroom 3, the kitchen, down to the basement and get played so hard that eventually after a little help with her fighting skills and Haley she could knock him out enough to take him to jail without him waking up. Now the fun was about to begin.

Daniel had by this time worked out he had been locked out, but with his tracker he worked out that Haley was still in the basement. He knew that of course it must have been Mabel that had done this but wasn’t worried because; unfortunately he had a knife, a taser, a bottle of his famous Pupley’s soda,  and a short term knock out gun with him. He took less than Mabel thought to work out the hole in the roof because the part of the roof that Mabel had taken out was in sight. He climbed up the house and jumped into the hole.

Phase 1

Daniel was met with an unpleasant fall into the hole and blacked out for a minute. When he woke up his knife was gone! Mabel had impressed him but he wasn’t scared yet. He found although why he had knocked out- he had landed on an unstable chair that was stringed so when he jumped on it, it fell giving him an acing knockout.  Daniel then stepped into the sitting room but stopped and brought out some flour! Mabel knew exactly what he was doing though. He blew the flour out of his hand and homemade laser beams were all set up around the room, Mabel was upset that he could tell- this was a high level spy emergency security trick; it was not although that hard to set up. All you had to do was set your laser pen to stay on and put small mirrors that deflect off each other around the room. Daniel said with an evil grin “Well Mabel, if you had gone back to the organisation you would have at least saved your pathetic life.” With that he got out his knock-out gun and shot all the small mirrors into tiny shards that fell to the ground, then he shot the pen which broke. “Nice try!” he added.

Phase 2

He started heading for the next room, but as he went in the door shut and the lights switched off. He saw electric blue eyes and then their owner said “What is it good for” and then the eyes disappeared, glass smashed and the lights switched on.  Daniel cursed and shouted as he found his famous soda had been smashed on the ground- but the liquid was no where to be seen! Mabel must have taken a sample and then she could prove he was guilty. He was red with anger. But then he realised he could get rid of the evidence and take care of Mabel. He raced through the kitchen shooting anything in his path that looked like a setup, he wasn’t fooled this time. Suddenly his gun ran out, he cursed and shouted again but then came into the basement.

Phase 3

Haley was exactly as he had left her; tied up in a chair with tape over her mouth. Then the electric blue eyes shone in the corner. “Finally, you come to an end.” He spat. But Mabel managed to word is anger by saying ” I see you’ve lost your knife, gun and- oh is this sample of Pupley’s soda yours?”. That got him going. There was a great fight of spin kicks, floors, straight punches, side kicks and more and more. Finally as Daniel was aiming for a low kick Mabel spinned him to the ground an he was once again knocked out. As Daniel was slowly waking up, Haley had been un roped and she said to him in a gentle voice “Good night, Dad.” And with that Mabel hit him in the neck in a special spot so he went right to sleep.

After this Daniel was locked up and Haley joined Mabel and became an agent. All was well at this stage so without further or due I would like to say:

THE END   Sorry, my mistake this wasn’t an end. This was a new beginning…

Behind the Scenes (Chapter 5)

Hello Readers,

This is chapter 5 of my choose your own adventure book. If you have not read my book before: my book “BEHIND THE SCENES” is about a 12 year old girl named Mable who has lived at the Lepary hills underground headquarters ever since she can remember. And yes- you guessed it- she is an agent at the L.H.S.O (Lepary hills spy organisation). She is strong, smart and skilful in every area of the spy training system there is.

In my last chapter: Disappearance, Mabel was at the nurses office talking to her handler Rob (who was in disguise) about Haley. There was a problem though: Mabel had left her undercover magnetic microfibre backpack out in the open. Also in that backpack was all her disguised gadgets which anyone could mistake for real things and end up tasering, gassing, lasering or memory erasing themselves by accident. They could also find the tech gadgets and find out that Mabel was a spy. When Mabel tried to find the backpack Haley and the backpack had disappeared! You readers voted and it tied for option 2 & 3 so I decided option three would be the best. Here is chapter five:

Chapter five:

Uncovering the truth

Oh no, this was bad. This was really, really bad! Mabel decided that she shouldn’t panick, just go somewhere pretty much isolated and have a look at the objects left behind: A note, a USB, her memory erasing perfume and laser pen. She decided to check her gadgets first. They seemed normal, the laser pen worked exactly the same and when she scanned the memory eraser it was fine. She decided to look at the note.

Mabel, you and your entire orginisation are in danger, my so called father is out to get you and the LHSO (Lepary Hills Spy Orginisation). I know about this because I once had a friend who worked there and knew I was trustworthy. They told me about my father smuggling “Pupley’s Soda” that stops anyone from speaking and doesn’t have a cure. My father kidnapped them though and I have never seen them since. I know all about your mission and what you need to do. By the way I destroyed your baackpack and gadgets apart from the ones you have so no one can use them against you. If you are in, I will help you save the orginisation and stop Daniel (my “father”). Your mission if you choose to accept it is to destroy the USB which my Father needs to complete what he is trying to do. Also with the memory erasing perfume I need you to spray Rob your handler. Why: my dad implanted him with a microchip that is set to hurt you, the memory erasing spray will wear it off. I am sorry but you will need to trust me- my dad knows that I sent this to you, I need you to save me or he will succeed. Trust is the key to this mission.

-Haley

Oh wow this explained a lot. Well, Haley hadn’t explained fully but Mabel knew that she could trust this note. She took the USB and lasered it, there was no chance of it working now. She had also worked out that Haley had meant she was trapped on Trustmis street in the house called “Sion” when Haley had said Trust and mission and key as in the way to unlock where she was. But there was one thing Mabel wasn’t sure about: What should she do? She wanted to go save Haley straight away, but what could she do? Daniel would probably have a lot of tricks up his sleeve- so mabye she should go to the orginisation first to get backup. But then what if Rob had been given instructions and she needed to spray him first? Oh Mabel needed to know what to do.

That’s the end of chapter five! Now Mabel really needs your help, what should she do?

a) Go to the orginisation to get backup so she can save Haley safely

b) Go to find Rob so she could ware off the chip and he could help save Haley

c) Go straight to save Haley bravley

Behind the Scenes (Chapter 2)

Hi World,

This is chapter 2 of my choose your own adventure book “Behind the Scenes” This chapter is called Preparations.

Chapter 1 “Mission Impossible” was about how Mabel got a mission opportunity from her boss, to find background information on Daniel Losken by Haley Losken (his adopted daughter) because he is a big suspect of smuggling “Pupley’s Soda” which has a non-curable effect of making whoever drinks it to never speak again. You readers chose mostly for Mabel to, drumroll… Accept the Mission! Seven of you chose to accept the mission, two of you chose for Mabel to let the boss decide for her, and one of you chose for Mabel to run out the door and quit her job as an agent- way too much pressure. As I said in chapter one, I recomend you listen to the clip below while reading this chapter.

Chapter two:

Preparations

“You know, I knew you would accept the mission, you always had it in you.” Rob (Mabel’s handler) claimed. Mabel tried to take him seriously but the fact that he was trying to sit at his desk professionally didn’t help at all. Nope, she couldn’t do it. Rob gave up too-finally, he told Mabel to head to the gadget room to get her… well, gadgets for the mission, then to head up to the masquerade floor to get her disguise done.

As Mabel entered the gadget room Natalie (the head of tech produce) came and harassed Mabel with excitement telling her this mission was going to be successful, wow word spreads fast. You would think that the entire boss of a spy organisation would keep things a little more secretive.

Natalie began: “So, one of the most important things about your cover for this mission is making it incredibly believable, you want to look like an average 12 year old girl. Haley isn’t stupid you know, and I’m pretty sure an illegal Pupley’s soda smuggler would be pretty smart as well. Anyhow, you have a backpack, in that backpack you have a copy of Harry potter , lip gloss, an iPod, a pen, a texta, some candy, a perfume bottle, a change of clothes, and a zip lock bag filled with 12 square beads. The backpack has magnetic microfiber that you can set off, the Harry potter book has a built in hidden computer to contact the organisation, the lip gloss is actually filled with a tech produce gas that will put the target to sleep for exactly 1 hour, the iPod is a disguised Taser, the pen is a laser pen that will cut open glass and most metals- it also can reseal things back up, the texta will shape itself into any keyhole to open it, the candy can blow a lock off anything (if the texta doesn’t work) also it can blow off circuits, the perfume bottle will erase the targets memory of that day, the change of clothes are for if you need a different disguise, and lastly the beads have hidden cameras and can stick to any material. And of course Rob will give you your ear piece so he can talk to you. Here is your backpack.” It was pretty light considering it had all those gadgets in it, and it had magnetic microfiber. Mabel thanked Natalie and said bye, time to head to the masquerade floor.

The workers on the masquerade floor had a quick skim through Mabel’s file then one of them started to talk to her “Okay, so I seez ya az a happy, smartz looking girl but you feel a lot, youz got a lot of emotionz.” This guy seemed very professional. “We will need ze hair dye, ze hairzpray, ze walk in wardrobe, ze makeup, and someonez let Rob knowz Mabel will needz ze special spy glassez.” The disguising went something like this: hair washed, hair foiled, hair dyed, hair washed again, hair done, hair done again, hair done for the third time, hair sprayed, hair fixed, hair sprayed again numerous times, eyebrows dyed, 24 hour lip changer put on, cheek colour lifted 6×3, and lastly the workers took around 3 hours choosing Mabel’s “perfect outfit”.

“Ze ta da!” the professional disguiser said. Mabel had one look in the mirror and knew she was going to have to adjust to a lot.

To be continued!

Okay readers today I am doing a different kind of “what you chose” today. I have three photos of what they could have chosen for Mabel to look like, which ever picture gets the most votes will be the one Mabel has been turned into. Here they are:

Behind the scenes (Chapter 1 mission impossible)

Hello readers,
this is my first chapter of behind the scenes: MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. Encase you haven’t read the character post: my book “BEHIND THE SCENES” is about a 12 year old girl named Mable who has lived at the Lepary hills underground headquarters ever since she can remember. And yes- you guessed it- she is an agent at the L.H.S.O (Lepary hills spy organisation). She is strong, smart and skilful in every area of the spy training system there is.
The preview picture today is of Mabel not in any disguise wearing a simple hoodie and the L.H.S.O training jeans. Remember after reading this chapter vote on what you think should happens next, because you could determinate Mabel’s future and the entire story can be flipped by one comment. I recommend that you listen to the clip below while reading though. Hope you enjoy the story, here is the first chapter:

Chapter One:
Mission impossible
“Hey Mayo, come over to the ring and show Boss Maudly how you do,” said Rob (Mabel’s handler.). “You know, I really prefer my actual name,” muttered Mabel. She hated Rob’s nickname for her, she didn’t even like the taste of mayo. Nevertheless she never missed an opportunity to impress the entire boss of L.H.S.O. As Mabel entered the ring her competitor tried to ace her with the usual Roundhouse kick, so to warm up she quickly jerked the back of his knee and he flung into the mat like a torpedo. Rob smacked his knee as he howled with laughter at the already losing 17-year-old challenger, up against 12-year-old Mabel. “That’s what happens when you put a red belt against our black belt,” said boss Maudly. The ashamed competitor trying to bring back his reputation was still on the floor so he yanked Mabel’s foot and she fell flat on her back. As the less flustered red belt jumped into position again Mabel-aiming to intimidate back flipped into what she called the grenade position and almost got him with a hook punch but he blocked it harshly. Then attempting to thrust her to the ground again the red faced, red belt tried a foot grab only to end up getting spin kicked to the ground. “OOOH, you just messed with the wrong Mayo,” Rob taunted. Mabel rolled her eyes.

“OK, I’ve seen enough.” Boss Maudly replied. Mabel decided to leave the poor red belt to it and headed over to the Boss. “I continue to be dazzled by your progress every time I check in to Rob.” Said Boss M. Rob tried to get a fist bump out of Mabel but she ignored him. “You’re getting a lot of work done behind the scenes.” He continued. Mabel was trying to understand what he was saying but she really needed him to just cut to the chase. “Look a new mission has come up, and I figure I want you to complete it but it would be the most complex and tough mission you will have ever done.” Mabel couldn’t imagine how tough it would be considering her previous tough missions. Although, on the other hand if she chose to accept this may well be her very own “MISSION IMPOSSIBLE”. She continued to think about this as Rob talked to Boss M for a minute. They told Mable she would be given the file now and she could tell Boss Maudly her decision tomorrow in his office at 8:00 sharp. When the Boss left Rob yakked on for 10 minutes and eventually gave Mabel the file.
Mabel checked in on the tech produce place, which everyone just called the gadget room to see if they had anything in stock especially for her. Mable said hi to Natalie (the head of tech produce) and asked if they had anything for her. “Only if you go on that mission,” Natalie replied. Erghh, what was so special about this mission? And why did everyone know about it? She needed to check out this file, and quick.

File for mission: 13473945

Mission: To get close with HAILEY LOSKEN.

Purpose: To find information of her father DANIEL LOSKEN who is a big suspect of smuggling illegal “Pupley’s soda” which has a non-curable effect of literally causing anyone who drinks it to never speak again.

Background Information: DANIEL LOSKEN adopted HAILEY when she was three months old. According to any few family members though, he never wanted a child. HAILEY is extremely insecure and sensitive; also terrible at bonding with anyone from an unforgettable experience of losing someone she loved. HAILEY although has an amazing HEART.

DANIEL and HAILEY’s relationship: DANIEL despises HAILEY and HAILEY just wants DANIEL to love her.

Need to know:
Why did DANIEL adopt HAILY?
Who did HAILY lose?
Is DANIEL smuggling?
End of File for mission: 13473945

“Gosh, no wonder Hailey feels so insecure and sensitive: her own dad doesn’t even love her.” Mabel accidently said dramatically out loud. The Boss did mention it was going to be tough if Mabel rose up to the challenge- he was right, this was a code CE mission, one of the toughest there is: A mission where emotions get in the way of getting the job done, many of Mabel’s close agents had failed code CE missions and had been lost forever. Mabel felt so overwhelmed that she shin kicked her stress dummy (Spies use these to get out their emotions using physical harm) three times in a row. All of a sudden Mabel had a gut feeling and knew exactly if she was going to do the mission or not. What will Mabel do?
a) Mabel will accept the mission, if anyone was going to complete it, it would be her.
b) Mabel will let the boss decide for her, after all he is the Boss
c) Mabel will not accept the mission; she is not ready for it.
d) Mabel will run out the door and quit her job as an agent, way too much pressure.
